Alliah University students take out a protest rally against the Waqf Law 2025. A huge number of students were seen holding banners and placards at Park Circus, Kolkata on Friday afternoon. They even broke the police barricading, reports said. Following this, traffic movement suffered a sudden halt. Later, heavy police deployment ensured normalcy in traffic movement.
Yesterday, protests erupted in Kolkata, with the West Bengal unit of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind taking out a rally from Maulali’s Ramlila Maidan opposing the amended Waqf Bill. The demonstration saw participation from thousands, resulting in significant traffic congestion in the area since morning as small vehicles made their way to the protest site.
Although Kolkata saw rather peaceful protests, the same wasn't true for Murshidabad's Jangipore as violent clashes broke out between the protesters and cops. Police vehicles were torched and stones were pelted after the police tried to stop the rally. Meanwhile, various factions of the Islamic community continue to raise their voice against the Waqf Bill.
